This was a really interesting shoot. I have been doing research on abandoned buildings/places for a few weeks now and I finally had a photoshoot in one.

Sara and I started outside the factory... everything is fenced up now and you can see all the old coats in the trash bin outback. It's sad because you would think so many people would love those jackets; but I'm sure there is a lot of damage to them. When we went inside the basement was completely empty and dark.. you can see a couple images from the series. We did however manage to go to the second floor which was so creepy.. the building is falling apart with water damage everywhere. Unfortunately I didn't have the guts to go up to the third floor because there was too much noise that really freaked me out.
I am glad I saw this factory before it is all gone.. go check it out for yourself before they really get rid of it. It is on Oliver Street right behind the CopyCat building in Baltimore.

Lebow Clothing Factory was built in the 1930's and was the manufacturer of the high-end Lebow Clothes label, best known for its men's suits and sportcoat collection. At its peak in the 50's and 60's, it employed several thousand blue-collar workers in Baltimore until it closed its doors in 1985. The building was sold, but after sitting vacant for the last five years, the city seized the property. Currently, there is a lawsuit pending against the city over the seizure of the property.

Designer Marc Bouwer is truly incredible. He is such an inspiration to me in terms of what he does in a larger frame. He is one of the designers who DO NOT use fur or leather due to the large amount of harm to animals.. he has virtual runway shows on his website (which I posted below) and he is like a total 'RoCkEr' fashionista!!!

Creative beauty shoots are one of my favorite things to do; mostly because it allows me to be creative with my makeup and the photography together. And ya'll know how much I love both ;)

Jennifer did amazing in this series-

it's hard to be painted all up and then get in front of the camera and work it..

and work it she did!

What was used to create this look?

Very simple!

I had an old MAC Bronze Foundation that I never use.. so I decided to mix it with Coastal Scents Black loose pigment. I put it in a bowl together and mixed it together;

I did however use a lot more of the pigment than I thought to get a darker turn out.

I used MAC 190 brush to cover Jennifer and then a puffing brush to smooth the product onto the skin.

It is fun, messy and fabulous!

Brand new beauty work-

sometimes it is great just to focus on the face and hair.

I will be posting some more beauty shots up on the website shortly;

some creative beauty and some just beautiful.

Hair-

was put into haute rollers, sprayed and teased for volume.

Makeup-

Elle has a lot of redness to her skin, so I used a lot of moisturizer and strobe liquid (mac) to give it a little more of a glow. That helps use the reddness in all the right places.

After applying foundation, I did the eyes using gold pigment and then a shimmer pigment..

lashes were applied.

Brows was filled using a spike pencil (mac) with a bit of dark brown shadow to set. This is a great way to create a full brow. Elle's hair is naturally light and so is her brows; always use colors that will match the color that is on your head. ;)

Lip was filled using OAK by MAC pencil, and a bit of concealer.

I used a lip gloss on the cheek for some more shine.

Lindin is one of my new faves! She has a great 'high fashion' look, plus she is the first model whom let me bleach her brows! Thanks girl!

My computer is in the shop, this is a raw image right out the camera.. the other images are going to be haute!!! Just wait

Until then.. lets talk look.

Makeup-

After bleaching the brows, I used Strobe Liquid (MAC) and Select Foundation together to create a very duey skin. I wanted to skin to look as 'plastic' as possible.

A lighter shade of concealer to create a contoure was applied on the center of the face, nose and eye area.

A light great shadow was dusted on the entire upper lid using MAC 217 brush and bringing it down to her lower eye and outer nose. A darker shade of shadow was used just on the lower eye and brushing it straigh out.

A darker shade of creme foundation was used on the cheeks; using a small contour brush to create a very triangle shape. (using a fluffy brush for this will make the cheeks softer)

Lady Venom was used on the lips.. this line is fabulous and it's a must buy btw. And to finish this plastic look, I used a light glow pigment on the entire face, eyes and lips.

Using red sand can be very fun! ;)

False Lashes 411

This is my second post of false eyelashes but I have been getting alot of mua's (makeup artists) and clients asking me what type of lashes do I use. I love MAC lashes but they do get a little expensive if you need to buy a lot for you makeup kit.

Model 21 Lashes (shown above) is a great buy and great quality; 10 pairs for 10 dollars.

Where to buy?

I would go to ebay and buy these... there are other websites that sell it for more but you can also find them on Amazon.com.

Model 21 Lashes are pretty natural; they do have dramatic lashes but no where as dramatic as MAC or Makeup Forever.

DUO is the only lash glue that should be used... please don't buy real lash glue people!

They are other brands of false lashes of course, but this is what I use for bridal and for my shoots... I hope this helps! :)

This is the first shoot that I put the wardrobe together-

It was all just material when I starte...

Sometimes I just need to push myself and see how creative I can get!

Nori is a fabulous model; when looking at her work I though of Gaga

but this image is def Dita.

She brought an elegance with a funky feel to the images which was pleasant.

Makeup was very lightly applied here-

I used MAC Select Foundation and Coastal Scents Concealer Palette.

Eyes I used a soft pink matte eyeshadow by Mac (don't remember the name) and her brows are filled from the look we did previously. And her lip is a coral from Coastal Scent Lip Palette.

I'm back with my hair blown out straight... I must say not bad for $10! The bleach is a little more yellow than I like it but honestly it is always yellow even when I go to the salon; I will have to dye the hair when I do my roots to get it more ashy.

Home Highlighting?

I have never tried highlighting my own hair at home; I usually go to a salon and pay $200 which is weird because I hate the salon and love doing things on my own. So today; well actually right now I am at home in a hair cap with Loreal Frost & Design in my hair. Haha

I must say there is everything in the package... the only thing I am missing is the stylist to do the back of my head for me but I worked it out. Its back to the cap and no foils.. ouch!

So the pain is over and now I am waiting 30 minutes to check these highlights out.. I also put some product on my brows cause I love the 'no brows' look!

LA Color Makeup

I was so excited to try LA Color Cosmetics I tried it and snapped it! I am wearing the blue liquid eyeliner which is very good for a dollar and their blue mascara. The mascara isn't that pigmented; mostly because it's a navy... and it is most def a more natural look. The actual brush reminds me of Dior Show.

I love great quality makeup... but not everything needs to be $$$$$$ BING!!!! I have recently started using LA Colors Cosmetics which I can buy at my 'Dollar Buys' for $1 to $2 a piece. I think that is pretty amazing! I love their eyeliners and nail color. They are similiar to MAC but only ONE DOLLAR PEOPLE!

If you go to their website I cannot see prices; but google LA Colors Cosmetics and there are a lot of links to shop online... keep your eyes open when you are out shopping though because it's a better price.

Oil Cleanse

I am officially in love with the oil cleansing method... my skin has never felt so soft and fabulous ever!! I'm still having a blemish here and there but I've only been doing this for a week! I now know that the ABS (african black soap) is too strong for my skin so I only use it twice a week and I love!

Skin care must haves for this cold winter season!!!

I personally have the worst skin in the world! I have large pores, black heads and blemishes galore. I'm just waiting for the lines to appear in my old age of 26. I am extremely picky of what I use on my skin and I take care of it like its my baby... mostly because I have to. During the winter my skin can be very itchy and dry. Like most of us-

So I've been doing some research on African Black Soap, Unrefined Shea Butter and The Oil Method of Cleaning. The website that carries the original products with the best price is Coastal Scents. I love them!

Go and read up on the products yourself, you will find them on the left side of their site. I am just starting with these 3 products and here are my honest 'starting' opinions-

African Black Soap: It comes in a bag which I really love. You do have to mold it together like every tutorial says and it lathers really well. This product does dry out my skin, burns in some areas and is causing me to break out a bit. After said that, its only been a week and I've heard that this soap may break you out because it is cleaning out all the yucky stuff in my skin and I have also heard that it may dry you out. It does clean, my hubby loves it!

Unrefined Shea Butter: This comes in a bag as well; it is not as soft as I thought it would be but I just cut a little snip of the side and squeeze the product out. Easy and mess free. I find this product to be very thick, it is really hard to rub into the skin so I have created a way of doing this for myself and that is mixing it with Vaseline. I just ordered some oils from the site, so once that arrives I will mix it with that instead but you have to do what works for you. I really love this product, makes your skin soft and it does moisturize.. you may feel itchy and dry for the first week. I do.

TOMC: I have heard of this method for a while and I wanted to start trying it. I am just using 100% Extra Olive Oil now until my order comes in from Coastal Scents... crazy I am I know. I just started doing this yesterday but it does feel really nice on the skin. You just take a quarter amount of oil and massage it into your skin for a few... then get a wash cloth and soak it in hot water. Leave the towel on your skin until the towel gets cold, wipe off and repeat.

I will be doing a follow-up 'blog' on these products... I want to see if it improves my skin or doesn't really do much for me! Right now, I'm satisfied but I'm waiting to see if the African Black Soap stops burning and causing me to break out! ;)

I finally got to work with the fabulous Samm from Viola Ricci; and he came and worked it!!! I've been wanting him to design a jacket with big big shoulders for awhile now and we did. Yayy. We also did a few other looks for a magazine which won't be out until spring... so we will wait on those looks until then. ;)

Ice Queen Fashionista

Model: Dasha

This was a very fun shoot. My favourite thing in the world as a makeup artist is to do something crazy, creative and fun! Dasha was fabulous cause she was open to anything, even the outrageous idea that I had for her.... so here it is- Ice Queen.

Makeup-

I started with using the fabulous airbrush with white airbrush makeup of OCC; I used a few layers to really hide Dasha's skin from peeking through. Because I used layers of the product it is very important that the model keeps her eyes closed at all times to prevent creasing.

The top layer which is the silver, I use MAC Frosted Pigment. (I think that is the name but don't quote me on it) It was used on the entire face, lids, lips and chest. Lips were done using a red lipstick, pencil and topped it off with a deep red lip varnish from MAC. (you guys remember the lip varnishes.. ahhh I love, I can't believe they discontinued it. Isn't that always the way!)

Hair-

Teasing is a must to get this look. Alot of other stylist I know put a straight stick or something to get that point. You can do the same with just teasing the hair and using a bit of hairspray then moulding the hair to stick right up. It's happy to see you! ;)

I had to add a leopard scrunchie... why not a scrunchie!!!

My first photoshoot for 2010.

I couldn't have asked for a better model. I came across Jasmine's portfolio on Model Mayhem and right away I knew we had to work together. She has a very unique look; she reminds me of Kate Moss meets Michelle Pfeiffer.

I had two looks in mind for this particular shoot but one theme; my version of a futuristic girl. One being 'the rebel' and the other 'female soldier'.

I kept the makeup the same for both looks but styled the hair differently; but not too perfect ;)

Okay, I know this may sound really cheap of me but I'm in love with the dollar store right next to my place... I think it's called Dollar General? Anyhow, they have so many great things for photoshoots and beauty. I bought nail polish, lipsticks, liners etc for a dollar a piece! Its crazy how fabulous it is... I don't know if anybody is reading this, but if you are I hope this helps :)

We had a beautiful snow storm here in Bmore, and the east coast this past weekend which allowed me shoot a fabulous white theme photographs. Model Rachel was such a trooper getting in the snow; and and few frames later this is what I got. My concept was 'white dessert' in the snow... doesn't the top image look like white sands. Ha, I wish! It's snow.. I guess I'm dreaming of New Mexico or Bahamas; I guess I'm in the winter winter blues! ;)

I am officially in love with washing my hair with Olay bar soaps.. I have tried every type of shampoo out there, but they all dried out my scalp. Now I can buy some great conditioner and save on the shampoo!! Yayy!

I love color.. my new image's are all about the 'hues'!

Melanie-
She is wearing a vintage dress.. it is actually very long and baggy but I pinned it up and stuffed the dress with a tablecloth for a 'puff' look. Makeup was all about her eyes; a lot of deep purples to bring out the blues and darkened the brows. Hair is all hers.. I added the curls to the bottom; doesn't she look like a mermaid barbie! ;)

Jessie-
Vintage is definitely this style; with a touch of Victorian. I am in love with her Chrissy Lou's pumps... Makeup is a colorful 20's feel. Eyes have dark purple with some shades of pink and gold; brows were filled for some drama. No cheeks were applied to this look but I did add a strawberry color lipstick. Hair was sleeked back to really show her face.. plus she is in her yoga class!

More new work to come... also, I am going to blog about the best makeup to get for the best $$$$$$$$$! The professional HOOK-UP!

Having two female models was too much fun for me... I literally sat them side by side while doing their hair and makeup all by myself! I'm crazy!

I really wanted to focus on beauty with two opposite looks... makeup was all about the eyes. I played up their eyes using black and gold pigment, liner and finishing off with their brows. Hair was sleeked back into a bun to give it a 'show-girl' look.

Those are xmas ornaments as their accessories btw :)

Such a fun shoot.. yesterday was all about being a rebel in your fashion high thigh boots. Makeup was very whited out with thick brows and eyeliner; Milanya's hair was teased to its maximum height and then pulled up in a high pony. Completing the look is a sheer beige ribbon.

This look was so much fun to create with Shannon;

the dress is perfect for this seasons fashion; trend trend trend!

The boots are actually knee high, but I decided to put on a grey thigh high sock and they roll it both down to create this look.

Hair was done first; isn't that bun fabulous! It is a hair extent ion that I rolled up as a bun.. higher the better.

Makeup is very metallic / retro; focus being on her eyes but with a touch of it on the lip.

Let's bring in the vintage hat's... I personally love vintage; to mix it with a beauty shot was fabulous! Diana was great for this look; she naturally has a vintage face. Her hair was pulled back into a loose bun to feature the hats. Makeup was colorful and structured.. using a bright purple to create a square type shape; blue lashes on the top and bottom to open the eye. Couturing the face is important because of Diana's light complexion and the lip was finished off with a pink/nude gloss.

Not a big fan I must say. I have heard about elf for a while now and I never thought of actually purchasing their makeup because it sells for $1 a piece; but I had to try it and I did. Soooo my review is not the best review as a 'professional' makeup artist. I found that the products for the skin (foundation, concealer etc) were very thick on the skin.. almost like plastic. Plus the coverage was terrible. The colors I purchased were okay; they are best for teenage makeup or for somebody who does not wear makeup as their profession.

Basically you pay for what you get...
$1.

I did however like the nail polish; for $1 it's a good purchase.. it does chip easily though.

It is beautiful. Fashion calls for less material and more skin!

My photoshoot with Shannon yesterday went really well; above you will see the post after image. I wanted to go for a vintage style with some UK fashion twists and a very washed out makeup.

Hair and makeup is very simple. Pulled the hair back in a low pony so Shannon's face is fully shown; her makeup is washed out.. lighter colors like beige and white was used to really highlight her face.

Photo editing was a big part of the end result of the turn out; I want to flip the picture around for a different visual and bright lights in the background for Shannon to really stick out.

Mariah Carey - My favorite 'lamb' ever... she has been dissed about her new weight gain which I think is ridiculous! She looks fabulous at any weight; but I really prefer when she has some on her! If I looked like her I would wear that assemble all day long!

Beyonce Knowles - Love her! She is so amazing.. met her once and she is so stunning is real life but I don't know about this image.. her makeup isn't really appealing. I heard that she does her own when she is on tour.. what do you guys think?

Fall/Winter 2009

Still seeing the same trend this winter; the clothing is very drapey but with a vintage touch. Shoes, the higher the better.. length and actual heel. You can wear your accessories chunky or no accessories at all for this season; which is really clean and beautiful.

Spring/Summer 2010

Kate Moss is the look. A lot of see-through materials, feminine with a touch of boyish charm. The ripped look is really in a well; you'll see less layering. Accessories are definitely those 'bunny ears' that have made an appearance more than once in fashion.

I collabed with Red Rose Photography a couple of weeks ago...

First look was clean, defined with an orange twist; MAC Select Foundation was used to even out the skin, with some concealer under the eyes and above the lids to wipe away color. After setting the entire face with powder; I defined the brows and applied one coat of mascara to the eyes. Cheeks were contours with powder, an orange tone blush on the apple of the cheeks were applied followed with a bright orange lip. I teased the hair completely for a punky volume effect.

The second look was easy due to the base already being on Caroline's skin.. I added black fluid liner to create a smokey eye. I kept the corners square for uniqueness and added another coat of black mascara for volume. Face was re-powdered and the lip was blanked out using concealer. The 'way up' pony was created easily by pulling the hair up into a ponytail, spraying oil on the hair for slickness and then sticking it up with hairspray. (because I teased the hair in the first look, hair stand up straight easily.. good trick here)

The last look is a classic; kept everything the same but added a dark red lip.

My Halloween inspiration shoot this year was definitely fairytale. I came up with Rapunzel after seeing Kim Kardashian's Barbie shoot which was so freakin amazing.

Juelles makeup for this shoot was pretty and natural; I wanted to make sure that her skin looked like plastic to add that cartoon fairytale effect. I used MAC select foundation with stick concealer on her skin, with lots of shimmer where needed. Eyes were done in very neutral pinks and soft browns w/ lashes and gloss to finish off. A soft coral was applied on the apples of her cheeks with more glitter on the temple and finish off with a strawberry lipstick.

Hair was actually a wig that I cut off just the braid and attached in to her hair by pulling back and braiding her actual hair; wrapping it around to look natural.

Julian provided the accessories which is his grandma's for that vintage touch, also his beautiful fairytale design of a dress in the image's below.

Brand new work from today; love this series.. Nelli is a very talented model from Russia and the camera loves her.

Look one: Is the image to the right; I started with MAC Studio Stick Foundation, Coastal Scent eyeshadow in light brown and light pink. Filled the brows with a dark brown shadow; and the lashes is hers so there was no need to give any. I applied some pigment to the skin for a natural highlight and a light pink gloss... finishing with a nude gloss. This look we wanted more natural for her comp card.

Look two: The image to the left; I already started a base from the first look so I went straight to the eyes. Applied star violet eyeshadow from MAC with a grey shadow in the crease (sorry forget the name) and then another pigment for the brow highlight. I added some more blush in more of an orange tone to compliment her lips; 'You Say Tomato' from MAC which is an orange red lipstick. I wanted a more high fashion/glamour look.

Hair: I actually used a piece I found from the dollar store for black women's hair... yes, I only paid 1 dollar! I put Nelli's hair up really tight in a pony and wrapped around the piece to a bun. Simple and easy!

I just completed this shoot today; there will be more work posted on my site shortly... Friday I have such an amazing photoshoot and I can't wait for you to see.

Rain, Sweat, Snow.

The season is here for that eye makeup of yours to run... you have to prime it with my favorite MAC eye primer. MAC Paint; it's a silicone based tube that has the most amazing stay power with it's waterproof base. It can be worn alone, or under any eyeshodow.. the only thing is that MAC doesn't provide a lot of the colors because of it's re-placement with MAC Paint Pots. I still love the original paint in the tube; its great for very oily lids and a rainstorm!

Best way to apply:

Apply MAC paint on the entire lid using an eyeshadow brush; I love using the 217 for the blend. Why I highly recommand using a brush verses your fingers? Your finger has natural oils that may break up the product; if you are looking for long wear the brush is the best way to go!

So let the rain, sweat and snow come... your eyes will still stay in place and you will look fabulous!
